This privacy policy explains how Jersey Old Motor Club Limited (“JOMC”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use our website, apply for or hold membership of the club, or take part in club events. We are the data controller for this information and we handle it in line with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

Information we collect
Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:
- Technical information when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. This is used only to run and secure the site.
- Contact details you give us through the contact form on this website: your name, email address, subject and message.
- Membership details you give us when you apply for or renew membership: your name, postal address, email address, telephone numbers, details of your vehicles, and records of your subscription payments.
- Details you give us when you book a place at a club event or order club merchandise, such as names, contact details and what you have booked or ordered.
- Photographs, and occasionally video, taken at club events and runs.
- Information you give us when you ask us to update your records or exercise your rights.
We collect this information directly from you: through this website, through the forms available to download from our Forms page, by email, post or telephone, or in person at club events. Membership records are kept in the club’s own membership database, which is maintained by the Committee and is not shared with any outside provider.
How we use your information
- To process your membership application, run your membership and keep our membership records up to date. Lawful basis: performance of our membership agreement with you.
- To send members the club newsletter, event notices and other club communications by email or post. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running a members’ club. You can ask us to stop any communication that is not essential to your membership at any time.
- To organise club events and runs, and to manage bookings and merchandise orders. Lawful basis: performance of a contract and our legitimate interests.
- To respond to enquiries sent through our contact form. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests, or steps taken at your request before entering into membership.
- To keep our accounts and comply with our legal obligations. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
- To keep this website secure and protect it against spam and abuse. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests.
- To show embedded content such as YouTube videos, only where you have given consent through our cookie banner. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
The Members List
Our website has a Members List, protected by a password that is shared only with current members. It shows members’ names, contact details and vehicles so that members can keep in touch with one another. It is not visible to the public or to search engines. If you would like your entry changed or removed from the list, please contact us.
Photographs and video
We take photographs, and occasionally video, at club events and runs. We may publish them on this website, in our newsletters and in other club publications as a record of club life. If you would prefer not to appear, please tell the photographer on the day or contact us and we will remove the image where we can.
Sharing your information
We only share personal data where necessary, with organisations that process it on our behalf under appropriate agreements. We never sell your personal data. We may share data with:
- The Committee members who administer membership, events and this website on behalf of the club.
- Our website hosting provider (Rocket.net) and its content delivery and security partner (Cloudflare).
- Our email delivery service (Brevo), which sends emails from this website such as contact form messages.
- Google, which provides the reCAPTCHA spam protection on our contact form and, only if you consent through our cookie banner, the YouTube videos embedded on our Videos page.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies. Non-essential cookies are only set with your consent, which you can change at any time. For details of the cookies we use, see our Cookie Policy.
International data transfers
We are based in Jersey and we keep our membership and club records in Jersey. Some of the services behind our website (our hosting provider’s security network, Google’s reCAPTCHA and, if you consent, YouTube) may process data outside Jersey and the UK, for example in the United States. Where personal data is transferred abroad, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep your information
- Membership and related financial records: for as long as you are a member, and then for 6 years from the end of your membership in line with our accounting practices.
- Enquiries sent through our contact form: typically up to 2 years after our last contact with you.
- Event bookings and merchandise orders: for as long as needed to run and account for the event or order, normally up to 6 years.
- Photographs and video: these form part of the club’s history and may be kept in our archive indefinitely, unless you ask us to remove one.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Ask us to erase your data, or restrict how we use it.
- Object to processing, or ask for your data to be ported to another provider.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your personal data secure, and we review these regularly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page. This version was published on 7 October 2026 and replaces our previous privacy policy dated 27 September 2022.
